Our Climate Commitment

We sell living things. That comes with responsibilities.

This is an honest account of how we think about our environmental footprint - and why being a plant company gives us a bit of a head start.

Every plant we ship is a living organism that will spend years pulling carbon from the air, humidifying a room, and doing what plants do. That's not a marketing claim. That's just biology - and it's worth saying plainly.

🌳 Every order plants a tree

Every item ordered plants one mangrove tree in Kenya through our partnership with EarthLungs Reforestation Foundation and Veritree, facilitated via TheGoodAPI. A percentage of every sale goes directly toward that work.

Mangrove reforestation is not a symbolic gesture. Mangroves are among the most carbon-dense ecosystems on earth, storing up to four times more carbon per acre than tropical rainforests. They restore natural coastal habitats, support coral reef health by filtering sediment and runoff, and create direct livelihoods for the local communities doing the planting. When you order from us, a tree goes in the ground in Kenya.

🌱 The product itself is the point

We don't sell single-use goods. Every plant we ship is intended to live in your home for years - sometimes decades. A fiddle-leaf fig bought today may still be in someone's living room in twenty years. A pothos passed between roommates can outlast the apartment lease by years.

That longevity is the most meaningful environmental argument we can make. Plants grow. They absorb CO₂, release oxygen, and improve indoor air quality for as long as they're cared for. When you buy a plant from us, the product keeps working long after the box is recycled.

📦 Packaging

Live plants are fragile, and protecting them in transit requires real packaging. We use corrugated cardboard wherever possible, and we're continuously working with our grower partners to minimize filler materials and single-use plastic.

We're not perfect here yet. Soil, root systems, and delicate foliage sometimes require more protection than we'd like. We're honest about that, and we keep pushing toward better solutions as our volume grows.

🚚 Shipping

Live plants require careful transit - sometimes with heat packs in winter or careful routing to avoid extreme temperatures. We work with growers and carriers who specialize in live plant logistics, because a well-packed, well-routed plant that arrives healthy is always better than a cheaper shipment that doesn't make it.

🤝 We source from growers, not warehouses

Our plants come from established nurseries and growers. Supporting that network matters to us. Plants grown with care, in the right conditions, by people who know what they're doing, tend to be healthier, longer-lived, and better for everyone involved.

Healthy plants that thrive in your home are the best outcome we can create - for you, and for the environmental math.

🌍 Where we're headed

We're a growing business, and there's meaningful work still ahead of us - on packaging, shipping emissions, and sourcing transparency. We'll update this page when something changes in a real, measurable way.
